Create Positive Energy and Health with Affirmations

Healthy Lifestyle with Affirmation

It's a new year and new decade, and this post will show how to use positive energy of affirmations to enhance your sense of health and well-being.

Take a few days to look at the big picture.

Self-appraise the stress and satisfaction levels you experienced in the past year.

Then evaluate and record details about the gap between your current energy level and health, and hoped-for future health.

*

One simple way for us to be kind to ourselves as we change self-critical messages about past health habits or sloppy or inconsistent self-care routines is to apply self-compassion.

Let's use a caring mindset to consider the information and affirmations below.

Following is a definition of what an affirmation is, research about why affirmations work, and original affirmations.

Affirmations are positive statements that are recited and repeated aloud to confirm and reinforce that something is already true and bountiful in our lives.

Research from a study published in "Journal of Personality and Social Psychology," indicates temporal landmarks, including a new year, new decade, or birthday, are powerful markers of time. These reference points are perceived by most of us as opportune times to experience the "fresh start effect."

Science backs this up. Study participants who used a temporal landmark to motivate them, had a positive energetic response, and gained momentum to follow through with their future-oriented wellness goals.

Affirmations recited at a temporal landmark are energetic powerhouses.

Affirmation recitation helps shift thinking, creates "feel good vibes," and helps us see challenges are opportunities to grow.

A study published in "Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience" details how affirmations help convert negative thoughts to more positive ones.

Now on to my original affirmations

Tips to Combine Journal Prompts and Quotes to Heal

Journal writing has the power to heal.

Recent studies indicate that journal writing helps people identify and process troubling feelings or events, and find good in a challenging situation. This post is Part 4 in my Healing Series.

One study where journal writers were divided into three groups revealed...

"Writers focusing on cognitions and emotions developed greater awareness of the positive benefits of the stressful event than the other two groups. This effect was apparently mediated by greater cognitive processing during writing.”  This report was published in the Annals of Behavioral Medicine 2002, authors Ullrich and Lutgendorf.

😠😡😢😞😐😔😕

Readers of this blog are aware that my adult son died at the end of last year, and it is a tragic loss.

Each day I choose to get out of bed, and find something meaningful, kind, and healing to do.

I notice when I'm consistent with self-care routines, I experience less stress, anxiety, and feel more present in my life.

In fact, I don't think I'd still be standing without amping up self-care.

📙📞👣💗💇💆💗

I put a new twist on my recovery from this trauma by combining grief journal writing with uplifting quotes that I continue to recite, ponder, and visualize.

I'm sharing them with you, because I hope when or if you are grieving or feeling despair they can help you.

I continue to use prayer, body work including chakra aligning, meditation, yoga, and nature walks to come to terms with the loss of my loved one.

Are you experiencing sorrow, whether it's the pain of going through a divorce, being laid off from a job, or other major life change?

The powerful pairing of journal writing and insightful quotations can bring comfort, and has led me to greater self-awareness.

NOW ON TO THE JOURNAL PROMPTS

Designate a notebook as a grief or healing journal, and be sure to use paper and pen or colored pencils. This tactile way of writing will help you connect with your senses, and is a tangible, grounding way to discover the health of your inner life.

Journal Prompt 1

Ask yourself: Am I willing to admit I need support and do I choose to speak with friends, relatives, a grief group, or a counsellor about my emotional pain? Explain.

Then, journal to record what your pain feels like in your mind, body, and heart.

Journal Prompt 2

When you feel vulnerable (like now), you may need to keep your thoughts, feelings, and some of your reactions private.

A grief/healing journal is a good place to write about those things you're not yet ready or comfortable talking about with others.

Journal writing can help you vent intense emotions, and free up self-compassion for your frustrations, confusion, or troubling thoughts.

"A grief journal is a safe, nonjudgmental place to share raw emotions about death, change, fear, anger, and heartbreak so let your feelings rip!" Nancy Andres

Journal Prompt 3

Do you think you have to be strong, silent, or grieve alone? Do you know that grief work has no rules or regulations about intensity, duration, or style? Share what you think or feel about this.

Journal Prompt 4

Are you willing to increase self-care while grieving, and do you need a reminder to treat yourself with Tender Loving Care (TLC)? Write about this now.

Journal Prompt 5

Do you regret past attitudes or behavior? You can't change how you acted then, but you can do things differently starting right now. Write about self-forgiveness. Use the quote below for inspiration.

Journal Prompt 6

I'm noticing a slight improvement in my outlook over the last couple of days. I sense that my practice of making a gratitude list and counting my blessings each day has improved my perspective.

Do you think focusing on gratitude would work or not work for you and why? Write about that now.

March, Relax with Aquamarine and Aqua

Color Energy Relaxation Tips

Aquamarine and aqua are the calming colors I'll explore during March. Green-blue colors promote a smooth flow of communication and are easy on the eyes. These shades reflect the colors in water and sky, and is a color family that creates a sense of expansiveness and tranquility.

Post updated 9/12/21

Please Note: Aquamarine is the name given to the gemstone and aqua is most often used to describe clothing, décor, or a paint color. Paint colors can vary, depending on which paint company you consult. See the photo above and get back to me about how many shades of blue-green you see in the water. I just love the first shade closest to the sea foam.

Put aqua in your life, if your thoughts are jumbled. Its color energy helps clarify perceptions as well as clear confusion in thoughts and speech. Wear an aqua cap or shirt and breeze through your work. Paint a wall with an aqua hue and notice if you feel more serene.

Don an aqua scarf or tie to help center your body and spirit. Use it when you feel you're in a rut, or find yourself judging the actions of others. Reflect on aqua to help restore your equilibrium and balance.

To reduce stress, visualize yourself being bathed by the warm, healing waters one finds in the Bahamas or Caribbean. Sailors have used aqua and aquamarine as a good luck charms. Old mariners' tales confirm these colors assure safe travel on water.

Water is the Feng Shui element associated with blues like aqua. Items including a water fountain, aqua vase, or an aqua blue accent pillow can be placed in a room to express the water element.

Then observe if the activities conducted in that room flow more freely. In Feng Shui, aqua is the color of the throat chakra, and symbol of fluid communication.

Aquamarine is the modern birthstone of March, and in geological terms, is one of the members of the beryl group of minerals. Gemstones made of aquamarine can range from the palest see-through blue to a darker shade of light blue. Aquamarines are prized for their clarity and transparency. When made into jewelry, they are treasured as decorative necklaces, bracelets, and rings. See more about this lovely gem at Gemselect.com.

Include a touch more aquamarine and aqua into your life during March. Notice the results. Take a moment to reflect on the following questions:

1. How does aquamarine and aqua make you feel?

2. What pops into your head when you see these shades of blue-green?

3. What memories, people, or things do you associate with this March color?

I sure would like to hear about it (respond below this post in the space provided). Please no links in comment, as it won't be published that way.
