Root Chakra Tips to Support, Stabilize, and Sustain You

Tips to Align the Root Chakra

The ROOT CHAKRA is the first subtle energy center in the body, and it is associated with a basic human need for a healthy body, a sense of connection to the Earth, and is key to creating and maintaining a sturdy foundation for work and play.

Chakra means wheels in Sanskrit, and describes areas of energy running from the base of the spine and lower pelvic area, upward to slightly above the crown of the head.

Colors and Locations of the 7 Main Chakras

Ancient Hindus formulated that people have seven major energy wheels, each a different color and spinning in a clockwise direction.

The root chakra or Muladhara is symbolized by the color RED, and this chakra is located at the base the spine in the lower pelvic region.

Tips to Align the Root Chakra

According to the Chopra Center, the word Muladhara breaks down into two Sanskrit words. Mula means root and Adhara means support or base. Learn more about this on the Chopra Center Website.

When you doubt your ability to withstand challenges, or feel shaky and fidget, it may indicate the root chakra is out of balance.

Read on to discover tips that help you regain your equilibrium and stabilize both your physical and emotional foundation.

Most energy healers agree that to balance the other chakras, the root chakra must be in alignment.

If you feel unsettled now or want to use root chakra energy to reduce the jitters in the future, practice envisioning RED, the color of the root chakra.

Meditating or visualizing on the color RED helps you feel centered, provides clarity to help you get on with your day, and reminds you that you're safe, secure, and supported.

If this seems too abstract, plant roses or other red flowers in your garden and use your sense of smell to ground you to the earth and the here and now.

Another simple way to ground yourself to our planet through the root chakra is to take a walk in nature.

I particularly like to walk on a beach, but please feel free to select a spot in the great outdoors that makes you feel calm yet vibrantly alive.

The color red traditionally signifies love, passion, and romance.

When you restore balance to the root chakra, it helps you find strength and willingness to do your share in improving interactions including those with family, friends, business associates, and romantic relationships.

Another technique that nourishes the root chakra is to compose and say a root chakra affirmation aloud.

If you prefer, select one of the affirmations I supply below and use it to set your root chakra intention for the day.

Root Chakra Affirmations

"I respect and cherish our planet and live in harmony with nature and all her creatures."

"I am grateful for my body, and use healthy self-care practices today."

"I am aligned with abundance, and I choose to save as well as spend."

"I maintain a budget and am fully responsible for my own living expenses."

"I feel relaxed, safe, secure, and supported with each inhale and exhale."

"I choose to wear red apparel to energize me."

Root Chakra Affirmations

Another practice that helps tune the root chakra is to chant a mantra. Consider chanting the sound associated with the root chakra "LAM" to help you release fear and worries.

If you enjoy yoga, take off your shoes and practice doing poses that align the root chakra.

The mountain pose, tree pose,  warrior pose, or standing forward bend (hand to foot pose) helps restore a body-earth connection.

The standing forward bend can also help with stomach problems, strengthens the spine, increases circulation, helps reduce mensural issues, and reduces belly fat..

Standing Forward Bend, Yoga, Root Chakra

I hope you try at least one or two of the simple ways I've provided to help you connect with the color red and root chakra energy. Each can help restore equilibrium and grounding. 💃

Please share comments below. Is chakra a familiar term or is the idea new to you?

Do you enjoy seeing red objects and select this color for clothing, home furnishing, office décor, or include red in your lifestyle in other ways? Please explain below.

What does grounding look like or feel like to you?

Which self-care practice helps you feel more secure, supported, and stable?

What makes you feel centered and empowered?

There's plenty of space below to share comments so please do. Please put no links in comments, as I won't be able to publish them that way.

I appreciate your visit and love social shares. Please come back again!

Create Positive Energy and Health with Affirmations

Healthy Lifestyle with Affirmation

It's a new year and new decade, and this post will show how to use positive energy of affirmations to enhance your sense of health and well-being.

Take a few days to look at the big picture.

Self-appraise the stress and satisfaction levels you experienced in the past year.

Then evaluate and record details about the gap between your current energy level and health, and hoped-for future health.

*

One simple way for us to be kind to ourselves as we change self-critical messages about past health habits or sloppy or inconsistent self-care routines is to apply self-compassion.

Let's use a caring mindset to consider the information and affirmations below.

Following is a definition of what an affirmation is, research about why affirmations work, and original affirmations.

Affirmations are positive statements that are recited and repeated aloud to confirm and reinforce that something is already true and bountiful in our lives.

Research from a study published in "Journal of Personality and Social Psychology," indicates temporal landmarks, including a new year, new decade, or birthday, are powerful markers of time. These reference points are perceived by most of us as opportune times to experience the "fresh start effect."

Science backs this up. Study participants who used a temporal landmark to motivate them, had a positive energetic response, and gained momentum to follow through with their future-oriented wellness goals.

Affirmations recited at a temporal landmark are energetic powerhouses.

Affirmation recitation helps shift thinking, creates "feel good vibes," and helps us see challenges are opportunities to grow.

A study published in "Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience" details how affirmations help convert negative thoughts to more positive ones.

Now on to my original affirmations

Affirmations Create Positive Thoughts

I release events, conflicts, stress, and worries from the past easily and effortlessly.

Positive Outlook

I am an Optimist and my Self-confidence Attracts Abundance.

Exercise, Nourishing Food, and a Self-compassionate Attitude Keeps my Body, Mind, and Spirit Strong, Flexible, and Energized.

I radiate health, happiness, harmony, and thrive.

*

I encourage you to write your own affirmations. Then, recite them aloud to keep the momentum going.

Please comment below and re-share on social media.

Thanks for visiting and please come back again. I post on the 1st and the 15th of each month.

Wishing you a Healthy, Happy, and Harmonious New Year!

Journal Prompts to Boost Confidence

Self-confidence Affirmations and Journal Tips

The act of writing with pen and paper is a tactile way to identify both difficult and pleasing sensations in our mind, body, and spirit.

Updated 7/20/2023

This post will show you ways your written words reveal your inner critic, and offers tips to transform those negative messages into incredible confidence building ones.

Journal writing shows us the level of trust we currently have in our abilities and accomplishments, qualities, perceptions, and actions. It shows us were we still need work.

Grab a journal or notebook and make it a dedicated place where you can express thoughts, feelings, ideas, and dreams in a tangible way.

Let it rip, uncensored as you share your frustrations, anger, hurt, or confusion, and the writing process will help you find healing and resolution.

As you read through this blog post, jot down any ideas that resonate with you and pin or bookmark for future reference.

Affirmations and Journal Prompts

Want to lighten and brighten the image you carry about yourself?

Here's my list of confidence building journal prompts to get you going!

1. Speak to your heart as you write "I love and approve of myself just as I am." Journal about a "yes," "maybe," or "no" reaction to this affirmation.

For today, accept your feelings just as they are.

2. In your journal, name one of your assets. Write down everything you think is positive, productive, and powerful about this trait.

If you're in the habit of blaming yourself for past mistakes, judging yourself as less than, or think you're unlovable, write about doing the best you can.

3. What did you do this week that surprised you? Was it something you wouldn't have attempted doing a year ago?

Write about ways doing something new can help you grow.

4. Focus on validating yourself, rather than looking outside yourself for approval.

Journal about ways to notice and record efforts you make to change and grow.

5. Do you doubt your judgment and second guess yourself often?

Either way, write about "trust in yourself" now.

Here are 4 affirmations to show you what trust in oneself sounds like. Say them aloud before you journal.

Then write one or two affirmations of your own.

Use these affirmations as journal prompt topics

6. Have you made strides or accomplished something you are proud of this week?

Write about progress not perfection now.

7. Self-confidence is tied to body image. Body image is tied to health and lifestyle.

What steps have you taken to eat better, reduce stress, and exercise? For tips please read Favorite Foods for Good MoodKeys to Reduce Stress, and Phenomenal Reasons Yoga Enhances Health.

What choices can you make today to reduce stress, clean up your eating, and commit to an exercise plan? Write about that now.

8. When you maintain an upbeat attitude, it encourages you to feel more confident. Positive energy releases a flood of feel good chemicals into the brain that makes you look and feel like a stronger, more self-assured person.

Write about the benefits of positive thinking today.

9. Studies show the act of physically writing down what you're grateful for, helps solidify it in your mind.

I've found that a gratitude list makes me appreciate the blessings in my life, and is a good place to refer back to when I'm feeling low. It's a good bet it will work for you.

Make a bullet list of things you're grateful for right now. Then pin this post for times when your confidence level is low and re-read.

🌈

The only barrier to increased self-confidence is negative messages (lies) you tell yourself about you.

15 Healthy Ways to Nix Stress

Self-care Tips to Reduce Stress at Colors 4 Health

Common sense and scientific research indicates that reducing your stress level makes you feel happier right now, and may protect your health in the long run.

Updated 5/16/2023

A recent study of young adults (ages 17-30) shows life satisfaction prevents inflammation, builds resilience to inflection, and can motivate you to stay on track with your eating plan, exercise, and other elements of a healthy lifestyle.

Another piece of good news is negative effects of stress can be kept in check or even reduced, no matter what age you are today.

I suggest you pace yourself and adopt one or two of the techniques listed below at a time. Each is valuable, and helps you get off to a good start in improving overall well-being.

15 Healthy Ways to Nix Stress

1. Develop or revisit a hobby today. Play an instrument, crochet, garden, line up a game of tennis or chess, sing in a chorus, or dance up a storm.

2. Incorporate relaxing activities into your weekly schedule. Reach out to a pal for a phone chat, meet your BFF and sip a cup of chamomile or lavender tea, or pamper yourself with a haircut, bubble bath, or pedicure.

Instead of thinking of exercise as a drudge, think of it as a  health elixir. When you get at least 30 minutes of exercise per day, it reduces stress, conditions your heart, lifts mood, prevents common diseases like high blood pressure, and helps you work  and play with more energy and joy.

Make your conditioning routine a combination of strength training, stretching, and aerobic workouts.

Exercise keeps your body and mind strong, flexible, and energized!

Get moving by running, hiking, biking, walking, or window shopping.

Line up an exercise partner to complete daily errands, walk outdoors in nature, or meet up at the gym or local Y, and combine a self-care practice with a social one.

4. Collect memorabilia that warms your heart, whether it’s stamps, pottery, coins, crystals, or CD’s, but don’t hoard. Delight in what you’re doing, without building up clutter.

5. Organize your belongings. See Organizing Rooms and Routines More Quickly and Effectively from Susan at Organized 31. An organized home prevents you from feeling overwhelmed, and eliminates stress of searching for misplaced items.

Organizing Rooms & Routines more quickly and efficiently means you have more time and energy to do the things you really want to - 10 Organizing Ideas & Tips for your home and life.

6. Focus on meeting your work needs, making progress on projects, and checking off that to-do list one check at a time.

Say "no" to distractions and postpone things you do for others, until you've accomplished your goal for the day.

Make yourself your first priority. When you accomplish what you set out to do, you wind up having more to give to others.

7. Carve out time to connect with your inner self. Prayer, meditation, 12 step programs, inspiring books, religious or spiritual activities, and devotional practices including chanting and tai chi help support, comfort, and calm you.

8. Attend the ballet, opera, or a poetry reading.  Dispel negative energy by taking in beauty, and possibly spark inspiration for your own creativity to bloom.

See an art film, visit a museum, art gallery, concert, or theater to enrich your life and release the cares of the day.

9. Cultivate self-compassion and give yourself a break. When you slip up or make errors in judgment, treat yourself as you would a beloved child.

Soothe that vulnerable place inside you, admit that you're part of the human race, and give yourself unconditional love.

10. Write in a gratitude journal. Studies show the act of physically writing down what you’re grateful for, helps to solidify it in your mind. Build up a log of things you’re thankful for, and refer back to it, on days when you’re feeling low.
11. Spend social time with people who are kind, respectful, and have a positive outlook. Creating a nurturing, low-key home and social life makes you feel encouraged, loved, loving, and relaxed.

12. Prevent a financial crisis by making and keeping to a budget. Review often to stay financially solvent.

Start today to simplify spending, live within your means, and reduce the amount of financial responsibilities you take on so you'll sleep better at night.

If you don’t know how or can’t do this alone, consult with a financial planner, organizational expert, or therapist.

13. Visualize aquamarine and aqua to nip stress in the bud. Let these green-blue colors calm mind, body, and spirit, promote smooth communication, and relax eyes.

Softly gaze at pictures of an ocean, river, or the horizon, or get out in nature to see aquamarine and aqua. Colors of the sky and sea help you feel more expansive and tranquil.

14. Recite affirmations. Affirmations are declarative statements confirming something is already a reality in your life. Affirm the ones below and see how fast that relaxes you.

15. Be good to yourself by sprucing up your home or apartment. It can be as simple as refinishing vintage finds or dusting off stuff from your attic or basement like an old mirror, bookcase, or lamp.

Repurpose décor by painting it pale blue, soft green, or lavender. Being active and productive is healthy, and seeing these colors in your living space makes you both more relaxed and refreshed.

There are many ways to nix stress. Take as many of the ideas from this post as you like, but don't forget to comment.

What stress reduction techniques work for you?

What do you still need to work on?

What healthy habits help reduce stress for you? Please share.

Please no links in your comment as it won't be published that way. Thanks for understanding.
